Shaun Thompson

Attorney

Shaun is admitted to practice in Colorado, Minnesota, and Iowa.  Shaun Thompson graduated Cum Laude from the University of Michigan Law School.  While at Michigan, Shaun was an associate editor and contributing editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review.

Shaun’s practice is primarily litigation where he does trials and appeals.  Contrary to modern trends, Shaun takes cases and controversies through trial and appeal.  Shaun has achieved numerous jury acquittals and positive civil jury verdicts for his clients in addition to receiving numerous favorable bench trial judgments or dismissals. Beyond trial work, Shaun has significant appeal experience and has won reversals in both the Iowa Court of Appeals and Iowa Supreme Court.

 

In addition to trial work, Shaun represents agricultural business owners for a broad range of issues.  Notably he represented Prosoy Genetics LLC in its acquisition by Bayer Crop-Science and Thompson Family Enterprises in the sale of its seed processing plant to Gro Alliance LLC.

Born and raised on a farm near Leland, Iowa, Shaun has been involved in a wide variety of agricultural businesses throughout his life.  Shaun's father was an independent soybean breeder and Shaun grew up working in his father's labs and research plots.  Shaun's family also founded and operated Nutech Seed prior to its acquisition by DuPont Pioneer in 2010.  Shaun’s family continues to own and operate a four-thousand acre farming operation in Winnebago County.

In his spare time Shaun enjoys time with his family, skijoring, snowboarding, and all manner of outdoor and musical activities.  Shaun regularly plays guitar, bass, piano and is also active in community theater where he is on the board of directors of Brickstreet Theatre in Forest City.
